HAPPY THANKSGIVING THIS WEEK! I love you all.
One interesting thing - Japanese know how to work with small spaces. Actually I don't know if they would know what to do if they had space like we are accustomed to. That's the biggest difference between Japan and America - everything in America is bigger: cars, houses, people, meal portions, and we actually have yards. Something to be grateful for this Thanksgiving huh? I'm enjoying learning how to work with less though. You guessed right about how good the Japanese are to be courteous to those living right next to them. I've only ever lived in apartments here and not once in the 6 months I've been here have I even heard noise coming from the apartments next to me. Pretty neat.
Is there any snow there yet? It's odd to think that it is the end of November already. The weather here is comparable to September here. We need coats outside, but it's not terrible.
The ward members here sure do love us. They give us tons of food, and yesterday as we rode out of the church parking lot the primary kids ran and followed us half-way down the block. Was Cam the one who said missionaries are like superstars in the church? It's true.
Kai Shimai is a wonderful, wonderful companion. I love her. She's actually done with college and worked as a teacher in a middle school for a year and a half before coming on a mission. She's a very organized, thoughtful person and she works really hard. She also makes some of the best food in the world.
We started up Eikaiwa again this week (the free English class that missionaries teach). Usually there are lots of missionaries to help out, but since we are the only ones in this area, and I am the only English-speaker, it's a bit different here. It happened though and wasn't too bad.
I sure have lots to be grateful for this week. Mostly: all of you!
Thanks for your letters and prayers, and just everything.
Love,
Waite Shimai
